WHISKY CHARACTERISTICS

Deanston 17-year-old whisky bottle on a white background

ABOUT

We can’t fly you to Spain. But we can bring a little bit of Andalucía to your glass. Deanston 17 Year Old Orange Wine Cask Finish is our latest experimental release - inspired by the sun-soaked flavours of southern Spain and the rare Vino de Naranja casks that helped shape it. It’s bold, aromatic and just a little unexpected. But that’s the point. Different? Absolutely. Still unmistakably Deanston? Without a doubt. And while it’s a whisky built for savouring, it’s not one that insists on ceremony. This is a release that doesn’t shy away from a serve - neat, with water, or even spritzed if the mood strikes. Because the best flavours rarely come from staying inside the lines.

CASK INFORMATION

For this limited edition single malt, our spirit first rested in ex-bourbon casks for 15 years, building the honeyed richness and waxy depth we’re famed for, before an unexpected, yet entirely intentional, curveball: a rare 2 year long finish in Vino de Naranja casks, a fortified wine made with sun-dried orange peel and aged the old-school way in a solera system.

PROFILE

CASK TYPE

Matured for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks, our waxy Deanston spirit was then finished in Vino de Naranja casks - a fortified wine with a long tradition in the Spanish region of Andalucía, made by infusing wine with dried orange peel.

NATURAL COLOUR

With no added colour, the liquid maintains its deep gold hue, showcasing the maturation process and the impact of the cask.

NON-CHILL FILTERED

We don’t mess with perfection — our whiskies are non-chill filtered, keeping all that waxy, full-bodied goodness intact. Why fix what isn’t broken?

TASTE

This unconventional cask choice delivers a burst of Spanish sun - notes of zesty orange, fragrant honey, toasted nuts and sun-soaked fruit - all wrapped in Deanston's rich, rounded mouthfeel.

Those bitter Andalucían oranges - sweet, sharp and unmistakable - are aromas I grew up with. Pairing them with Deanston’s honeyed waxiness felt natural, like bringing two parts of my story together.
