WHY SHOULD I VISIT DEANSTON DISTILLERY FOR A WHISKY TOUR?
That’s a really good question! At Deanston Distillery you’ll learn how we make our uniquely waxy Deanston malt whisky. You can enjoy exclusive tastings – some, straight from the cask, and immerse yourself in our beautiful, 18th century buildings.
Unlike many other Scotch whisky distilleries, we’re also easy to get to - we’re only a 45-minute drive from Glasgow and a 1-hour drive from Edinburgh!
ARE THERE ANY OTHER SCOTCH WHISKY DISTILLERIES I CAN VISIT WHILE I'M IN THE AREA?
Yes, there are a few distilleries within easy reach of Deanston. The nearest is Stirling Distillery, a family-run whisky and gin distillery located in the heart of Stirling, about eight miles away. Tullibardine Distillery in nearby Blackford is also within easy reach of Doune, situated some 13 miles away.
DO I NEED TO BOOK TO VISIT DEANSTON DISTILLERY?
If you would like to attend one of our distillery experiences, we recommend that you book ahead of arrival, as spaces are limited. You can do this online here. If you would just like to come and see us in the visitor centre, you don’t need to book in advance.
I'VE BOOKED AN EXPERIENCE. WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN ARRIVING AT DEANSTON DISTILLERY?
We advise that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of your tour or experience. When you arrive at Deanston Distillery, please park in the car park if you have driven here, and come to the visitor centre, which is a short walk but is clearly signposted. Let a member of the team know you're here and they'll take you to the experience when it is ready to begin.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR ON THE TOUR?
There are lots of stairs at Deanston Distillery as well as metal latticed flooring, so we advise that you wear sensible footwear with an enclosed toe. Also, please bring something warm to wear, as our distillery buildings are notoriously cool.
I'M RUNNING LATE FOR MY EXPERIENCE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If you are running late, please let us know as soon as you can by calling the visitor centre on +44(0) 1786 843 010.
Please check in at the visitor centre when you arrive, and a member of the team will take you to the tasting or tour area. Unfortunately, we can’t start a tasting or tour outside of the available booking times, so you may miss some information if arriving late.
I'M THE DESIGNATED DRIVER ON THIS EXPERIENCE. CAN I GET A SAMPLE OF DEANSTON WHISKY TO TAKE HOME?
Yes, absolutely! If you're driving, don’t worry, you won’t miss out. We offer 'drivers’ drams' at the end of every tour, which are small bottles of Deanston malt whisky to take with you to enjoy when you get home.
CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN TO THE DISTILLERY?
Yes, although anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult while on the premises and unfortunately cannot take part in our Warehouse 4 experience. Children under the age of eight are welcome in the visitor centre, gift shop and the Coffee Bothy, but aren’t allowed inside the production areas of the distillery, so are unable to take part in our distillery tour.
Additionally, anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 may be asked to present a valid photo ID or passport as proof of age in order to taste or buy any alcohol, under the terms of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
CAN I BRING MY DOG TO THE DISTILLERY?
Well behaved dogs (on a lead) are welcome in our visitor centre, however, due to health and safety regulations, dogs are not allowed in the production areas or in The Coffee Bothy.
CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE TASTING EXPERIENCE?
We will try to accommodate a private tasting experience as best we can but can’t guarantee it due to availability. Give us a call on +44(0)1786 843 010 to chat over your requirements.
CAN I CANCEL MY BOOKING?
If you can’t make your allotted tour time, please contact the distillery as soon as possible as bookings can only be changed at the discretion of the distillery and are subject to availability. We generally don’t issue any refunds for cancellations.
